Catalog Description

The following courses are recommended for students who have not decided upon a specific four-year college or university. Once a transfer school is selected, students are strongly encouraged to meet with an Academic Success Advisor to determine courses at CLC which will also meet the transfer requirements. To complete any transfer degree, students should follow the college requirements for associate degrees that transfer.All course prerequisites must be met. Additionally, students are required to select one course from the International/Multicultural (I/M) list to meet graduation requirements. A grade of C or better is required for all English course requirements.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

1. Transfer to a four-year program in Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences degree, Bachelor of Arts in Latin American or Latino Studies, or other related fields.

2. Demonstrate Interdisciplinary Knowledge of Latin America: Understand the histories, cultures, and contemporary issues of Latin America through coursework in disciplines such as history, anthropology, political science, and cultural studies.

3. Analyze Regional Diversity and Social Change: Examine the cultural, political, and economic diversity across Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

4. Apply Latin American Perspectives to Academic and Professional Contexts: Use knowledge of Latin American societies to support further study or careers in education, international relations, community engagement, and public service.
