Kinesiology is the study of the art and science of human movement!
It involves instructing physical education classes, designing and implementing exercise programs, studying about the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries, teaching group exercise classes, creating health behavior change strategies, exploring health promotion and disease prevention, and more! Taking Kinesiology classes at CLC can help students to improve their own level of physical fitness, prepare for a career in the health fitness industry, and provide engaging transfer credit moving on to a four-year program.
Many of our Kinesiology courses meet the requirements for students pursuing a Physical Education Endorsement in Illinois. Many of our Health and Wellness Promotion courses meet the requirements for students pursuing a Health Endorsement in Illinois. Successful completion of the certificate and/or degree programs in Kinesiology will prepare students for highly regarded credentials through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and other accredited fitness and coaching organizations.
This program is recommended for students pursuing a B.A. in Kinesiology with a Physical Education Focus. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with the department chair Joana Pabedinskas early in their program to discuss the different options available within the field of Kinesiology.
