In Fall 2023, the Automotive Collision and Automotive Technology programs merged their advisory committee meetings in response to a request from advisory committee members who support both programs. This collaborative approach allowed for a comprehensive review of shared goals and curriculum alignment.

Following a detailed comparison of course learning objectives, the advisory committee recommended that ACR 110 and AUT 110 (Introduction courses) be accepted interchangeably across both programs. The recommendation was based on the conclusion that the two courses share the same learning outcomes.

This proposed change offers several strategic benefits:

1. Increased Affordability – Students pursuing both programs would avoid the cost of repeating an equivalent Introduction course.

2. Improved Program Efficiency – The adjustment would shorten the dual-program pathway by an entire semester, supporting timely completion and boosting program appeal.

3. Administrative Streamlining – The need for manual course substitution entries by faculty or staff would be eliminated, reducing administrative workload and minimizing potential for errors.

This alignment reflects our commitment to improving student access, reducing barriers, and ensuring curricular coherence across programs.
