Upon successful completion of this program, students must take the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Examination (INACE) to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

 CNAs are assistants to licensed nurses. They provide hands-on care to those who are unable to care for themselves. In this program, students learn nurse assisting skills and related knowledge necessary to care for the elderly. Emphasis is placed on the role of the CNA as part of the healthcare team and its legal and ethical implications.

This certificate consists of both classroom and clinical experiences. Day, evening, weekend, and blended options are available. Classes are offered at all CLC campuses. Clinicals are conducted at healthcare facilities throughout the community.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

Demonstrate the required skills for entry level employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Sit for the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Exam to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
