Catalog Description
The Computed Tomography (CT) certificate prepares Radiologic Technologists to work in medical facilities as CT Technologist. Graduates of the program are qualified to take the national CT certification examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
The program offers two flexible pathways: didactic education with clinical placement, or structured education designed for cross-trained technologists. All didactic and structured coursework is conveniently delivered online, while hands-on clinical training is completed in affiliated healthcare facilities. Both pathways can be completed in two semesters.
The structured education will provide you with the opportunity to develop mastery of discipline-specific knowledge, integrate theory into practice, and hone effective and critical thinking skills required to demonstrate professional competence. Your clinical education will verify that you have demonstrated competency performing the clinical activities fundamental to Computed Tomography (CT). Together, these educational practices will help you master the knowledge you’ll need to obtain your credential.
CT is an advanced certificate and is open only to applicants who are registered in radiography, radiation therapy, or in nuclear medicine technology by the American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). In addition, students must maintain registration in their discipline to be eligible for certification in Computed Tomography.
We welcome technologists who only need ARRT structured education and are obtaining their clinical requirements through their employment.
Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:
The Practicum has been designed to be flexible and accommodate a variety of schedules. Actual clinic days and hours will be determined by the student and the instructor.
