Catalog Description

This certificate prepares students to work in the front office of a medical or dental office. Students in the program will learn how to schedule appointments, protect confidentiality of patient information, use proper telephone etiquette, and understand the concepts of healthcare law and ethics. Students should be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office software.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment as a medical receptionist

Demonstrate ethical and professional conduct consistent with medico-legal standards in the healthcare setting

Use appropriate medical terminology in oral and written communication within the healthcare setting

This program is based at the Lakeshore (Waukegan) Campus. MOA courses are offered in an online/hybrid format, however, non-MOA courses may be offered only at the Grayslake Campus.
