Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Award Type

Associate in Science Degree A.S.

Catalog Description

The following courses are recommended for students who have not decided upon a specific four-year college or university. Once a transfer school is selected, students are strongly encouraged to meet with an Academic Success Advisor to determine courses at CLC which will also meet the transfer requirements. To complete any transfer degree, students should follow the college requirements for associate degrees that transfer.

All course prerequisites must be met. Additionally, students are required to select one course from the Internationa/Multicultural (I/M) list to meet graduation requirements. A grade of C or better is required for all English course requirements.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

explain interactions among Earth systems for how Earth science processes influence environmental conditions, natural hazards, or human activities.

analyze geologic materials, structures, and processes for how they shape Earth’s history, influence natural hazards, and impact the distribution and collection of resources.

evaluate atmospheric processes and data with meteorological vocabulary, quantitative methods, observational skills, and interpretive tools in relation to weather patterns and their impacts on human activities.

analyze astronomical objects, systems, and evidence with scientific vocabulary, observational techniques, and analytical tools in relation to the structure, origin, and evolution of the universe and its relevance to Earth.

This plan includes recommendations for students who plan to major in this subject at a four year school. Students who follow this plan will meet the requirements of a general transfer degree (A.A. or A.S). The CLC degree earned will be a general transfer degree, not a degree in this specific area of study.

For more information on recommended courses or program specific advising, contact an Academic Success Advisor or the Engineering, Math and Physical Sciences Division at (847) 543-2044.
