Catalog Description

The Residential Air Conditioning Technician Certificate program prepares students for employment as residential air conditioning trainee. This certificate places a strong emphasis on operational characteristics of various types of residential air conditioning equipment, including reading electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, safety procedures. Students learn to work with refrigerants, use refrigeration gauges, and electrical test equipment in a residential setting. Students will also prepare to take the EPA 608 certification exam.

Note: Tools will be provided for students to perform lab work.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

Develop an understanding with a strong emphasis on operational characteristics of various types of residential air conditioning systems, including reading electrical wiring and schematics diagrams, and safety procedures.

Learn to work with refrigerants, use refrigeration gauges, and electrical test equipment in a residential setting.

Prepare for taking the EPA 608 certification to be able to work with and handle refrigerant
