Catalog Description

The Residential Heating Technician Certificate program prepares students for employment as residential heating trainees. This certificate emphasizes the operational characteristics of various types of residential heating equipment and develops the technical skills necessary for installation, startup, and service.

Coursework focuses on sequence of operation, reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, system startup and commissioning procedures, and systematic troubleshooting techniques. Students gain hands-on experience using combustion analyzers and electrical test equipment while working on residential heating systems in a lab environment.

Through classroom instruction and applied laboratory training, students build the foundational knowledge and practical skills required to safely and effectively service residential heating equipment.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

Develop technical skills necessary for startup, commissioning and troubleshooting of residential heating appliances.
