Catalog Description

The CNC Operator certificate allows graduates immediate employment skills working with many of the local employers in high-tech manufacturing environments operating and tending to different machine tools. The courses are designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills necessary to get started as a CNC machine operator, manual machinist or CNC machinist. The coursework will provide an introduction to basic manual mills and lathes, CNC machine operation, machine and shop safety, fundamental machining processes, interpreting blueprints and inspection & measuring techniques.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

1. Interpret mechanical drawings

2. Demonstrate semi-precision and precision measuring techniques

3. Prepare cutting tool and machine shop calculations

4. Setup and operate manual machine tools
