Catalog Description
The automotive collision repair certificate prepares students for employment as an entry level automotive collision technician. Coursework places a strong emphasis on the understanding of panel replacement, dent repair, plastic repair, automotive electrical systems and automotive welding. Students learn foundational repair theories and develop skills in panel replacement and alignment, dent repair, plastic repair, vehicle glass, automotive electrical repairs and automotive welding. Upon completion of coursework students have the opportunity to earn I-CAR program certification.
Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:
Perform steel panel dent repair using hammer and dollies metal working processes.
Perform vehicle exterior body panel replacement and alignment.
Perform plastic repair using chemical and welding processes.
Perform automotive "movable glass" removal, installation and adjustment.
Perform automotive electrical wiring repairs.
Perform four basic automotive welding joints; rosette, lap, open butt, and butt with backing.
