Catalog Description

Design majors are prepared for entry-level positions with landscape firms and become versed with all phases of the landscape planning process from site analysis to design to installation. Students are trained in both hand- drawing and computer graphics, and develop designs for a variety of residential, commercial and public sites.

Once the program has been completed, students should be able to:

Draft landscape graphics that apply the drawing techniques, including perspective, shading, color theory, scale and texture.

Produce landscape graphics using computer programs, such as AutoCAD.

Draft landscape graphics that apply the principles of landscape design.

Be able to describe the steps involved with client relations, from initial consultation to project close out.

Select plants that are appropriate for a project site based on plant needs and site environmental conditions.
