Automotive Refinishing III
Course Description
This course builds on prior refinishing theory and skill development with an emphasis on advanced refinishing systems, metallic finishes, and production-quality application techniques. Instruction includes the use of solvent-based and waterborne basecoat systems, spray equipment selection, environmental control, and workflow organization to support modern collision repair operations. Students develop skills in advanced surface preparation, paint mixing and material control, metallic basecoat and clearcoat application, and color identification and matching processes. Additional topics include analyzing repair plans, identifying and diagnosing refinishing defects, and applying corrective strategies to improve finish quality. Learning is reinforced through classroom instruction and extensive hands-on laboratory activities designed to prepare students for industry-level automotive refinishing work.
