Damage Analysis and Shop Procedures
Course Description
This course introduces students to the principles and procedures used in automotive collision damage analysis, estimating, and shop operations. Students develop foundational skills in vehicle inspection, damage identification, documentation, and repair decision-making using both manual and computerized estimating systems. Instruction includes estimating accuracy, repair planning fundamentals, productivity considerations, and customer communication practices commonly used in collision repair facilities. Emphasis is placed on proper documentation, repair versus replace analysis, and alignment with manufacturer and industry estimating standards. Classroom instruction is reinforced through hands-on laboratory experience utilizing live vehicles and industry-standard training aids to develop practical estimating and analysis skills. NOTE: Work Experience may be considered to meet the prerequisite.
