Automotive Detailing
Course Description
This course introduces students to the theory and application of interior and exterior vehicle detailing as it relates specifically to the automotive collision repair environment. Emphasis is placed on the selection and use of body shop–safe products and procedures appropriate for freshly painted, repaired, and refinished vehicles. Instruction includes interior trim and material identification, soil and odor analysis, interior cleaning and conditioning procedures, and exterior washing and finish correction techniques. Students also learn paint-safe polishing methods and final delivery preparation practices used in professional collision repair facilities. Classroom instruction is reinforced through hands-on laboratory experience utilizing live vehicles and industry-standard tools to develop job-ready detailing skills. NOTE: Students must successfully complete the course with a final grade of “C” or better to advance all Automotive Collision Repair courses. Work Experience may be considered to meet the prerequisite.
