Course Description

This course is designed to explore the structure and elements of poetry and the writing process. Students will write, revise, produce fully developed works of poetry, and analyze professionally published poetic works by a wide range of writers. Students will demonstrate and employ the various elements of craft such as imagery, metaphor, form, and narrative voice. A minimum of 25 pages of original poetry and critical essays are required. Journals, a midterm, and a final exam may also be required.
