Course Description

This course examines microbes with an emphasis on the bacterial groups. Morphology, principal activities and properties of bacteria, yeasts, molds, viruses, selected algae, and protozoans will be discussed. The role of microbes in natural systems, human health and immunity, will be covered. Laboratory techniques in handling, culturing, and identifying microorganisms will be emphasized.
