Personal and Professional Development


The Personal and Professional Development department offers short-term educational experiences for individuals to pursue a hobby, prepare for their future or level up their career.

Personal Enrichment (PE)

PE offers noncredit programming for learners of all ages that enhance personal growth and expand individual experiences. Students can take a trip, learn to dance, improve physical fitness, delve into history or engage their inner artist. Classes range from one-day workshops to semester-length courses. Whether learning new skills, meeting new people or developing new hobbies, offerings are available for the entire family.

  • Gifted Children Classes (Grades 6-8) 
    CLC’s Fast-Paced Program for gifted and talented children offers challenging and thought-provoking math, verbal and STEAM based courses. Students must score in the 95th percentile on standardized tests to qualify for the program. Enrollment is by referral only. 

  • Youth Classes (Grades 1-12) 
    A variety of educational and recreational programs are offered for students in grades 1-12. Programs include academic enrichment in math, test prep, writing, STEM and the arts.

  • Summer Youth Camps (Grades 1-12)

    • Explore camp for youth in grades 1-8 offers premium academic enrichment learning experiences wrapped in fun and designed to boost skills. STEM and STEAM topics are taught by highly trained and energetic professionals. 

    • Engage camp offers career exploration and innovative experiences for grades 9-12. Students may explore professions including engineering, healthcare, computer technology, lasers/photonics/optics, auto technology, culinary arts, law, filmmaking and many more. Gain insight before deciding on a major or a job!

  • Embark – Endeavor – Discover Programs
    These programs for adult learners incorporate learning opportunities across a broad spectrum. Classes range from life skills, including financial literacy and basic repairs, to glassblowing, yoga and photography, to current events, history and trips to local landmarks. College instructors and community experts facilitate these engaging experiences.

Professional Development (PD) 

PD offers in-person and online courses that introduce and enhance in-demand career skills or fulfill licensure/certification requirements. Programs span CLC’s Fields of Interest, including Business and Information Technology (project management, real estate), Education and Social Sciences (social worker and teacher continuing education), Manufacturing, Engineering and Advanced Technologies (forklift operator, commercial truck driver) and Wellness and Health Sciences (veterinary assistant, CPR for healthcare professionals). PD also offers vocational and leisure courses designed for young adults with mild to moderate cognitive disabilities in the Personal Success Program.
