Workforce and Professional Development Institute

The Workforce and Professional Development Institute (WPDI) offers training, short-term courses, workshops and coaching for employers, individuals and entrepreneurs through Professional Development, Talent Development Services and the Illinois Small Business Development and International Trade Center.

Professional Development (PD)

PD offers in-person and online courses that introduce and enhance in-demand career skills or fulfill licensure/certification requirement. Programs span CLC’s Fields of Interest, including Business and Information Technology (e.g. project management, real estate), Education and Social Sciences (e.g. professional development hours for teachers), Manufacturing, Engineering and Advanced Technologies (e.g. forklift operator, truck driver) and Wellness and Health Sciences (e.g. veterinary assistant, CPR for healthcare professionals). PD also offers vocational courses designed for adults with mild to moderate cognitive impairment in the Personal Success Program.

Talent Development Services (TDS)

TDS delivers talent development solutions crafted to meet your organization’s specific needs through instructor-led, online or hybrid offerings that can be held virtually, at your location or at one of CLC’s three campuses. Training topics include managerial and supervisory skills, computer skills, English as a Second Language, project management, business writing, etc. and are taught by subject matter experts. Professional coaching and career coaching are also available for all levels of management and employees. Our skill assessments help identify development opportunities and solutions to maximize the use of training budgets and time.

The Illinois Small Business Development and International Trade Center (SBDC-ITC)

Whether you are starting a new business, positioning your company for growth or seeking to expand globally, the SBDC-ITC can help. Our experienced group of business advisors provide no-cost, confidential one-on-one guidance (in English or Spanish) for starting and growing businesses. We offer a variety of no-cost and low-cost skill and knowledge building programs and digital platforms including business resource tools and a learning management system designed for businesses of any size.
